For a Special Patient

This is one of the cards I made at the retreat. It's for my Chemo Angels "buddy," who also happens to be a cardmaker like myself. I hope she likes it. Tree stamp is from Close to My heart. Owl and words are from a Clear Dollar Stamps set. Ribbon is from Stampin' Up.

I Met Heidi Swapp!

This past weekend I attended a papercrafting retreat locally. Heidi Swapp came to teach classes and I was lucky enough to take 2 of them. She is such an inspirational speaker and we all enjoyed hearing what she had to say, learning from her, and getting to know her. Thanks, Heidi! And thanks, Jeanie, for making it all happen!

Stamps of Life September Release

I needed a quick card today and my September Stamps of Life set was nearby, so this is what I came up with. Quick and simple. I used Pallette Noir ink and Copic markers. Card base is Prism cardstock that came with the September Stamps of Life set. You can't see it in the scan, but I also colored parts of the flowers with a clear Atoyou Spica glitter pen. The ribbon is Offray and probably came from Joann Fabrics.

Megan's Baby Shower

Kelli's new sister-in-law, Megan, - who was in the wedding a month ago at 8 months pregnant - had her baby (Hannah Jayne) on Kelli's brother Tyler's 20th birthday, September 26. Today is the baby shower and this is the card I made to go with our gift. My scanner really washes out colors, so it's much brighter than it may appear on your monitors. The chenille ric-rac is actually a light tourquoise color.
*Stamp is from a cheapie set from Michael's (and stamps that way!), ribbons are Making Memories, found at Michael's. Paper (which is embossed) was also found at Michael's. Kraft cardstock is from Papertrey Ink.

Wedding Guest Book Complete

This is the completed project. It's my first Bind-It-All attempt and though the binding process was a bit of a challenge, I think it turned out very well. I hope Kelli and Aaron like it.

Some details: 6 x 9" chipboard was used for the cover (thanks Fairy Godmother!). It was covered with My Mind's Eye 29th Street Market collection Carefree Adorable - Adoring Print and Loving Lavender paper (now discontinued). Template for the pages was gotten from Sue Nelson of Heartprints - Thanks, Sue! I used Memento Rich Cocoa ink to ink the edges (the paper is already somewhat distressed but this just gave it a nice finish). Ribbon is from Target Club Wedd. Half pearls are from Basic Grey.

Wedding Guest Book Sneak Peek

I've been absent for some time, but no excuses. I haven't stamped much at all this summer and that's OK. My niece Kelli will be getting married on September 12, and I told her I'd make her guest book. Here is a sneak peek of the cover - in progress. It will have a dark brown ribbon/bow where the 2 papers meet. This paper is from My Mind's Eye, is double-sided and textured. It's actually what I would consider cardstock. Stay tuned for more pictures as my project progresses. Thanks for looking.

Paper Trey Bird Watching

I made this quick card today for my "Chemo Buddy" through Chemo Angels. She is a cardmaker so I hope she enjoys it. I colored the birdhouses with Prismacolor pencils and blended with OMS. Wide grosgrain Swiss dot ribbon is from WalMart (I think made by Offray). Cardstock is from SU, yellow inks from CTMH. All stamps from Papertrey Ink Bird Watching set.

Happy Birthday Melanie

Tomorrow is my sister-in-law Melanie's birthday. She's here on vacation from California and we'll all be celebrating the birthdays tonight (Stan's birthday is Saturday). This is the card I made her. Stamp set is Stampin Up Words by Wanda, colored with Koh-I-Nor pencils/odorless mineral spirits. The background paper is from Stampin Up, called Good Morning Sunshine. Felt self-adhesive flowers were purchased from Cherylynn at Second Childhood Creations. Sentiment inside the card says "And on my birthday you must say that I look marvelous!"

Happy Birthday Chris!

Monday, the 8th, is my dear friend Chris' birthday. I can't believe I actually made a card in time to get it in the mail so she'll receive it on (or maybe even before - what a concept!) her birthday! Card base, background paper, and cardstock bird is cut from are all from CTMH. Bird is a Nestabilities die run through the Cuttlebug Birds and Vines embossing folder, then sanded, popped up on pop dots (both bird and wing). Flower embellishments and Dew Drop are freebies from the most generous Cherylynn at Second Childhood. A quick and easy card and easy to mail.

Happy Birthday, Mrs C!

Today is my friend Mrs. C's birthday. We met on Gingerwood. She has sent me several great cards for various reasons and I thought it was about time I reciprocated!

This card was made with Making Memories Flower Patch papers and stickers and Stampin' Up! cardstock. The tiny sentiment is from Gina K designs. I love these springy colors!

Kelli Graduates from College

Tomorrow my sister's daughter, Kelli, graduates from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. I had seen this Whippersnappers image on-line and just had to have it to make her card. I used the school's colors (purple and gold). There is actually a faint blue shadow drawn around the image but the scanner didn't pick it up. Background is a quarter sheet of cardstock and the white card is folded, then cut with a Nestabilities scalloped rectangle die run through my Cuttlebug. I used gold Metallic Rub-On paste (purchased from Gina K Designs) on the scalloped edge of the card.

Happy Birthday Jonathan

Our nephew Jonathan will be 12 tomorrow and I finally got around to making a card for him. I'll get it in today's mail and hopefully he'll have it when he gets home from school tomorrow!

I had the image already colored and hopefully it won't be too "girly" for him. Like many of you, I have trouble with masculine cards - and he's also at that "tween" age, but what kind of card do you make for a "tween" boy? I'm sure he won't really care about anything except the check inside!

It's hard to see in the picture, but the image/sentiment is raised on pop dots. The cuttlebugged layer is a copper paper, between text weight and cardstock weight and I have no clue where I got it, like a lot of the stamping stuff I have!

Need your help - and Blog Candy!

Stan and I bought a new red (formally called Camelia Red Pearl and gorgeous!) 2009 Subaru Forester. We'd like to put "vanity" or personalized license plates on it. I'd like you to help me with that. The winner will receive a goodie box of stamps and supplies from me, which will contain at least one set of Stampin Up stamps.

The Fine Print:
  • Words/phrases on license plates are limited to only 7 letters
  • I'd like something reflecting (in order of preference) the color and/or model of the car, my occupation (medical transcriptionist), or my hobby (rubberstamping)
  • Nothing obscene
  • Leave your suggestion along with a valid email address in the comments section on my blog - emails to my personal email address will not be considered
  • Contest ends at midnight Mountain Daylight Time Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Good luck, and thanks for helping!

A couple quick birthday cards

My mom has a birthday later this week and my good friend Nikki also has a birthday this week. Procrastinator that I am, I waited until tonight to do these. They were quick and easy.
Details:
Card #1 - Mary Engelbreight die-cut is from the $ bin at Michael's. I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder for the pink layers. I don't know the source of the ribbon (but I'm running out and need to get more!).
Card #2 - Stamp set is Stampin' Up!'s Cheep Talk. Branch is stamped with Memento cocoa ink and Stampin' Up! Old Olive; bird is stamped with Ranger Distress Broken China. Felt ribbon is from Stampin' Up!

February Stampin Up Workshop Cards

I'm a little behind getting these posted, but here are some cards we did at my Stampin Up demo's monthly workshop last month. Unfortunately, I don't know names of stamp sets, but everything you see is from Stampin Up. The last one is really bulky and didn't scan well. Tomorrow if we have daylight (more winter arrived today and our highs are supposed to be in single digits for the next 48 hours!) I'll photograph it and hopefully will get a better image.

Basic Grey Porcelain Card Kit

This past Saturday I picked up this card kit at my local scrapbooking store. Untrue to my character, I actually took it home and immediately started assembling. Normally it would lay around the house for several weeks before I took it out of the bag! I made 4 of the cards on Saturday and the remaining 4 on Sunday.
**No stamping on these cards. Everything that looks stamps is rub-ons. Everything that looks like ribbon is paper (die cut), and lots of chipboard accents.

Valentine Vignette

I've decided to jump on the "test tube" bandwagon, although I got these a little late to make a lot of Valentine gifts. This is a variation on Mrs C's tubes. I happened to have found that darling stretchy, curly ribbon at my LSS. I was going to use it on the tubes, but the reds didn't match very good and frankly I was too lazy to go down to the basement to find matching CS and ink!
Supplies Used: Tubes - Stampin Up Curly Label punch, Stampin Up Bella Rose DP, Stampin Up Riding Hood Red CS, Stampin Up Cute & Curly (label) stamp, Martha Stewart Valentine's stamps (for sayings and on punched-out hearts), Martha Stewart border punch, Marvy Heart punch, test tubes from Impress. Card - Making Memories ready-to-glitter stickers, Stampin Up Branching Out stamp set. Ribbon from my LSS, unknown manufacturer.

Kelli's Birthday

Tomorrow is my niece Kelli's 24th birthday. My parents are in Yuma for the winter and I have "control" over their checkbook. They called the other day and asked me to make Kelli a card and put a check in it for her. They also gave me "permission" to make one card and put their names plus mine and Stan's in it. Since I'm a procrastinator and didn't start until tonight, I took them up on that! Hope you enjoy my creation.
Supplies used: Stampin Up Bella Rose papers, stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms, ribbon unknown source.
